Narad Uvacha, 
Narad Speaks 

Pranamya Seerasa Devam
Gauriputram Vinayakam
Bhaktaya Naam SmarenNityam
 Aayu Kaamartha Siddhaye.

I bow upon the God who is the first worshipped among Gods, the son of Gauri, who fulfills the wishes of health, work and money if one remembers his names with devotion  

Prathamam Vakratundam Cha
Ekdantam Dvitiyekam

First Name is Vakratunda (One who has the curved trunk), the Second One is Ekdanta (One who is One-tusked)

Trititayam KrishnaPingakshyam
Gajavaktram Chaturthakam 

Third is KrishnaPingakshya (One who has the eye of fire brownish-black in colour), Fourth is Gajavaktra (One who has the head of Elephant)


Lambodaram Panchamam Cha 
Shastham Vikatameva Cha

Fifth  is Lambodar (One who has a big belly), sixth is the Vikata (One who has enormous body)


Saptamam Vighnarajam Cha
DhoomraVarnam Tathaashtamam 

Seventh is Vighnaraj (One who reins upon the obstacles), Eighth is Dhoomravarna (One who has the brownish-black complexion).

Navamam Bhalchandram Cha
Dashamam Tu Vinayakam

Ninth is Bhalchandra (One who has the second day new moon on his head), Tenth is Vinayak (One who is the Lord of all the beings)


Ekadasham Ganapatim
Dwadasham Tu Gajananam 

Eleventh is Ganapati (One who is the head of all Ganas) {Ganas are the devout followers of Mahadeva who live in Kailash with him}, Twelfth is Gajanan (One who is Elephant headed).

Dwadasaitani Naamani 
Trisandhyam Ya Pathennarah
Na Cha Vighna Bhayam Tasya
Sarva Siddhi Karam Param

One who recites these names of Lord Ganesh at three Sandhyas (at the dawn, at the noon and at the dusk) would have all of his fear and obstacles removed and would succed in every aspect of his life.

Vidyarthi Labhate Vidyam
Dhanaarthi Labhate Dhanam
Putraarthi Labhate Putram
Mokshyarthi Labhate Gatim 

One who is seeking knowledge shall receive knowledge, one who is seeking wealth shall receive wealth, one who is seeking to have son (offspring) shall have son and the one who is seeking Moksh shall achieve the salvation.

Shadbhirmasai Phalam Labhet
Sambatsarena Siddhincha
Labhate Naatra Sansayah

One who chants this verses of Ganapati shall have the fruit/result within 6 months. And, within one year one shall receive what he has desired.

Likhitwa Yah Samarpayet
Tasya Vidya BhavetSarva
Ganeshsasya Prasaadatah

One who writes these verses and gives it away to 8 Brahmins would possess all the knowledge with him as a boon from the Supreme Lord Ganesha. (There is a long process described in the scriptures about how to write these verses. To write one should first prepare the ink with the proper ingredients according to the rituals, prepare the paper and pen in the prescribed way and perform the act of writing on the day set aside for this. It is a very gruesome and difficult task to perform but it is all clear that to achieve the fruit, one should always toil hard.)

Ganesh Vandana



The translation of the famous prayer Shree Ganeshay Dheemahi is here under:

1.                  Gana Naayakaya
Gana Daivataya
Ganaadhyakshyaya
Dheemahi.    

I mediatate upon the one who is the supreme among the Ganas (Ganas are the bhoot, preta et pisacha, Nandi, Bhringi etc. who live in Kailash with Mahadeva. They are the most devout followers of Mahadeva), who is the God of all the Ganas, and who is the head of all the Ganas. (i.e. I am meditating upon Ganesh)


2.              Guna Shariraya
Guna Manditaya
Guneshaanaya
Dheemahi

I meditate upon the One who Himself is the physical representation of Quality (Guna: there are three qualities or Gunas according to Hinduism: Satva, Raja and Tama), around whom revolves the Quality, and who Himself is the supreme God of the Quality.

3.             Gunatitaaya
Gunadhishaya
GunaPravistaya
Dheemahi

I meditate upon the One who is above the three Qualities, One who reigns upon these qualities, and the One who inculcate these Qualities.

4.              Ekdantaaya
Vakratundaaya
Gauritanayaaya
Dheemahi

I meditate upon the one who is the One-tusked (as Ganesh has only one tusk other being broken by His Father, Mahadeva), One who has curved trunk and the One who is the Son and the most loved one of Goddess Gauri (Parvati)

Dheemahi

I meditate upon the One who is Elephant-headed, who has the second day new moon over His head as ornament, and the who is respectfully known as Shree Ganesh by all.

Pray wholeheartedly of the One who is venerated by the teachers, One who is the God of the teachers (Guru), and the One who is protector of Gurus and their families.

8.              Guru Vikramaya
Guhyha Pravaraya
Gurave Guna Gurave

One who is the power (in the form of knowledge) of the Gurus, One who is the most secret of cosmic gyst, One who is the Teacher himself and who is the Teacher of all the Qualities.

9.             Guru Daitya Galakshetray
Guru Dharma Sadaradhyaya

One who protects the Gurus by killing the demons, One who Himself is the manifestation of the 'dharma' of Gurus and the One who is all worshipped and venerated.

10.               Guru Putra Paritatray
Guru Pakhanda Khanda Kaaya

One who has saved the son of a Guru (there is a story about this in the Puranas), and the One who destroys all the hypocrisy of Gurus.( as time and again Gurus fall prey to hypocrisy because of Maya)


11.   Geet Saaraya
Geet Tatvaya 
Geet Gotraya 
Dheemahi

I meditate upon the One who is the gyst of all the songs, One who is the element of all the songs and the One who himself is the physical manifestation of all the songs.


12.   Goodha Gulfaya
Gandha Mattaya
Ojaya Pradaaya 
Dheemahi

I meditate upon the One who has guarded the secret of this cosmos on his ankles, One who is all perfumed and the One who provides the valor and power to fight the evil of ignorance to His disciples.

16.   Gandharvarajaya Gandhaya
Gandharva Gaana Shravana Pranayine

One who is the king of all the musician, One who is smells of divine perfumes and aromas, and the One who loves listening to the songs sung by Gandharvas (Gandharva are lesser Gods and are considered to be musicians of heaven)


17.   Gaadhanuragaya Granthaya
Geetaya Grantharth Tatvake

One who has the deep adoration for the Shaastra (sacred books like Ramayana, Mahabharat, Veda) and the One who knows the mystic and secret meaning of Geeta (the most venerated book of Hindu religion whose principles and teachings are considered to be extremely difficult to understand)


18.   Grantha Geetay
Grantha Geyaya
Granthantaratmane


One who represents the sacred songs of Shaastra, the One about whom sings the verses of Shaashtra and the One who is present in the innermost part of these sacred books. 


19.   Gaurisanandanaya
Gaurihridayanandanaya

One who is the Son of Goddess Gauri (Parvati) and the One who provides the utmost delight to the Goddess Gauri.


20.   Gaurabhanusutaya
Gauriganeshwaraya

One who is the Son of the Goddess who is as fair as sun (allusion to Goddess Parvati who is named as Gaurabhanu thanks to Her uncomparable beauty and fairness), and the One who is the Master of the Ganas (followers) of Gauri. 


21.   Gauri Pranayaya
Gauri Pravanaya
Gaura Bhavay 
Dheemahi

I meditate upon the One who is the loved one of Goddess Gauri, the One who is the  closest to Goddess Gauri and the One who is divinely fair and attractive.


22.          Gosahastraya
Govardhanaya
Gopa Gopaya 
Dheemahi

I meditate upon the One who is all perfumed with myrrh and other divine aromas, the one who has raised the Govardhan hill with his small finger, and the who himself is the another manifestation of Lord Krishna.
